Studio client Regin Le Faye has studied and performed all over the world with credits a mile long. From singing lead vocals for Sydney Cover Band "The Anthill Mob" at various events, party's and of note the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Afterparty; to a contract that would take her to India performing on radio and at functions through the Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Bombay.
As a songwriter and recording artist Regin has worked with American producers and musical directors that also work with Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent and Al Green. Most recently Regin has teamed up with Melbourne's top producer Michael Zammit of Airwaves Studio to create her debut solo album "Feel The Love" which is due for launch and release later this year.
Having worked with Regin now for well over a year, her thirst for knowledge and understanding is wonderful as she takes her responsibility as a storyteller and musical healer very seriously. Her sensitivity as an artist and human being a truly inspirational and are so evident in every performance.

Studio client Alex Papps was trained as an actor, graduating from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 1995, and as a director from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2007. As an actor his television credits include 'Time of Our Lives', 'Australia On Trial', 'City Homicide', 'MDA', 'Blue Heelers', 'Stingers', 'Home & Away', 'Neighbours', 'The Flying Doctors', 'Prisoner', 'State Coroner' and 'The Saddle Club'. He was also the co-host of the music/variety program 'The Factory'. Alex's Film credits include the role of Peter in "Head On" and Anthony in "Five Moments of Infidelity". Alex is also a regular presenter on ABC TVs 'Play School' since 2005.
Theatre credits for Alex include "Becky Shaw", "Emma - Celebrazione", "Stones in his Pockets", "Titania's Boy" and "The Gizmo" as well as several pantomimes in the UK. Also for the Melbourne Theatre Company he has appeared in "This Old Man Comes Rolling Home", "Mad Forest" and 'Romeo' in "Romeo & Juliet".
Alex also has spent plenty of time behind the scenes which include directing credits for "The Last Temptation of Randy" (2013), "Sober" (2011), "Randy’s Postcards from Purgatory" (2009), "Riders to the Sea" (VCA Directors’ Season ‘07), "The Mercy Seat" (Red Stitch 08), "Aladdin" (Assembly Rooms, Royal Tunbridge Wells, UK) and "Broken" (Melbourne Fringe Festival ‘02). He also has written for 'Home & Away' and is a current writer for 'Play School'.

Studio client Thomas Lacey plays Nationally the lead role of Scott Hastings in Baz Luhrmann's stage adaptation of "STRICTLY BALLROOM"
Studio client Tim Paige grew up in Tasmania in the picturesque Huon Valley. At the age of 19 he moved to Melbourne to study Acting at The Victorian College of The Arts. Whilst at VCA, he played: Grumio in Taming of The Shrew, Vanya in Uncle Vanya and Andre in The Three Sisters. Tim was also lucky enough tour nationally with Essential Theatre playing Benvolio/Paris in Romeo and Juliet, Barachio in Much Ado About Nothing and Sebastian in Twelfth Night. He also appeared in Winners and Losers for Channel 7.
Tim was part of The International Actor’s Feloowship at The Globe Theatre last year and appeared as Lysander in their final performance. Earlier in the year he also appeared in Stephen Sondheim’s Pacific Overtures for Watch This. Tim also directed David Butler Studio's 2014 National Tour of Elaborate Lives.

Elaborate Lives 2014 National Tour
November saw DBS stage its original production of "Elaborate Lives" over a National Tour with performances in Launceston (TAS), Hobart (TAS), Melbourne,SOLD OUT (VIC), and Brisbane (QLD).
The show welcomed prior collaborators Kimberley Colman, Holly Joseph and Simon Bruckard, and welcomed new performers Monica Hope and Liam O'Byrne to the DBS Family. With wonderful direction by Tim Paige and many other contributors; "Elaborate Lives" was a tremendous success.

Studio client Josh Thomas made his stage debut with the travelling production of "THE ROCKING HORROR SHOW" from July to December (2013) where he played 'Brad Majors'. Seeing Josh grow in confidence from the beginning of the rehearsal period to seeing his opening performance was incredible, and definitely gave him a taste of what he was capable of.
Other exciting developments for Josh in his ever expanding future of performance include playing Keyboards and Backing Vocals for Rebecca O'Connor as Tina Turner in SIMPLY THE BEST on its nationwide tour from March 2014. A chance meeting with her management at an Australia Day concert in January led to this exciting opportunity where he was invited to join her upcoming tour.
Studio client Samuel Armstrong is a graduate of the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art in New Zealand in 2012 (www.nasda.co.nz); where he enjoyed roles as The Music Man and Gaston in 'Beauty & The Beast' during his time at NASDA. Other performance credits include the Yogi Bear 3D Film and NZ Children's Television programme "What Now".
Since moving to Melbourne, Samuel has been involved in a number of Short Films and Photography Shoots. With a long list of credits mounting up, more recently Samuel was involved in Kylie Minogue's Music Video "I Was Gonna Cancel" and reprised this performance at the Logies in 2014.
Samuel is currently touring internationally with The Aussie Boys.
One of DBS's youngest clients Ellise Kibel took part in the American Idol experience at just 14 years of age in 2014 and made it to the final against competitors twice her age!
With an extensive performance history and being a regular performer on the Victorian competition circuit, Ellise continues to "Wow!" audiences with her big voice and musical sensitivity which is beyond her years. Placing regularly in 1st and 2nd, and most recently placing 2nd in the STARS OF THE WEST Singing Competition Grand Final, it is no doubt this young artist is heading places.
Ellise has always been an active member of her schools' music and performing arts programs; and regularly features as a soloist at various related functions last year being invited to perform at the Canterbury girls Secondary College Music Breakfast. Last year also saw Ellise achieve great success in the Boroondara Eisteddfod in Contemporary Vocal and Musical Theatre sections as well as placing 1st in the Victorian Follow Your Dreams U15 Vocal Solo competition.
Ellise regularly shares videos on her YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/user/ElliseKibel) to great response, and brings a unique approach and interpretation to the songs she covers.
Studio client Russell Leonard’s conservancy in the arts has seen him jump from medium to medium in both creating and performing. His involvement choreographically and as a performer in a feature film for the CineB film festival in Chile titled ‘Avernus’ was showcased at POOL Dance Film Festival 2013 in Berlin and Ikonotv; which is a world first TV film festival. He choreographed Andrew Horabin’s comical music video, trained and choreographed ‘Lucy and the Lost Boys’ on the 3rd year ensemble students at NICA (National Institute of Circus Arts) and performed his co-created theatre work ‘The Pride’ with Side Pony Productions (which was awarded Best Production and Members Choice 2010 Blue Room Awards) over various inceptions nationally and internationally; which was short-listed for a Total Theatre Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Over the past 2 years, Russell’s involvement as a puppeteer and voice/animatronics controller in "KING KONG The Musical" has led to a Helpmann Award for Outstanding Theatrical Achievement for the design, creation and operation of King Kong the creature and a Green Room award for Best Ensemble as one of the ‘Kingsmen’.
Russell's many accolades include Helpmann and Greenroom Awards (KING KONG), an Emerging Artist Award from WESTERN AUSTRALIAN AusDance and Best Production & People's Choice Awards (THE PRIDE).
Studio client Bonnie Harris, like Studio Director David Butler is originally from Tasmania; and as a little piece of trivia - they once did a show together in Launceston back in 2008. Small world.
Bonnie moved to Melbourne in 2013 to further her Performing Arts exposure and opportunities with particular focus on her Dance and Singing. She has been studying primarily with Adam Wheeler of Yellow Wheel on honing her already established dance abilities and has been studying voice with DBS since 2014.
AMDA is a renowned facility for performing artists' with names such as Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Janelle Monae as graduates. Also to the academy's credit are literally hundreds of professional Musical Theatre performers currently working on Broadway and the West End who studied there. This exciting opportunity is the product of Bonnie's application and dedication to her craft. In the short time Bonnie has been in Melbourne she has successfully auditioned for multiple programs, travelling shows, has sought further tuition in all areas of performance to make the most of her move to Melbourne.
Bonnie has been accepted for the 2 year Conservatory Program in Musical Theatre at AMDA which commences this October. Needless to say the next few months will be very busy, but from what we at DBS have seen she will take every challenge and opportunity on board and give it everything she has.

Studio client Monica Hope holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) from New Zealand’s National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA), graduating at the end of 2011. Highlights during her time at NASDA include playing The Gumbie Cat in “Cats”, Rita in “42nd Street” and Oriel Lamb in the stage adaption of Australian epic novel “Cloudstreet”. She also had the opportunity to attend master classes with New York musical theatre songwriters John Bucchino and Jason Robert Brown.
Since graduating from NASDA, Monica has performed in touring educational show “Stand Up” for Crash Bash Education, she played Mallady in three episodes of children’s television show “The Wobblies” for Whitebait Television, and portrayed real-life earthquake survivor, Monique, in the premiere season of “Groundswell: Stories from the Quake” at The Court Theatre in Christchurch. She has also spent a year teaching drama and acting technique at JK DANCEWORKS and three years performing with Chant et Danse Professional Entertainment Company. She has had the opportunity to sing in several concerts with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and as a backing vocalist for prominent New Zealand singer, Bic Runga, at the New Zealand APRA Silver Scroll Awards.
Last year Monica decided to “jump the ditch” to Melbourne to pursue further opportunities to develop her craft. She has relished furthering her singing training with David Butler and also acts as Media Co-Ordinator for David Butler Studio. Monica was also involved in bringing “Elaborate Lives” to the Australian stage.
"Mozart to Musicals"
March 15th, 2014 saw David Butler once again team up with Two Birds & Co. Soprano Holly Joseph and the wonderful Pianist Simon Bruckard to present a programme of music which will take you from Mozart to contemporary Musicals.
With something for everyone this was a wonderful evening of music. St. Peter's Church in Mornington will provide an intimate venue to share a variety of repertoire up close and personal with the performers.
Mozart to Musicals is made possible by the support of Jarrod Carman of EVIEW Real Estate Partners, with the aim to bring concerts and live performance such as this to Mornington and the Peninsula community.
"In Good Company"
October 2013 saw David Butler Studio travel to Tasmania to present its' inaugural production of "In Good Company". Featuring the talents of Kimberley Colman, Holly Joseph, David Butler & accompanist Samuel Braune; they presented a diverse programme of Classical & Contemporary repertoire which held up a mirror to society to reflect upon the diversity of the world and people around us.
Debuting brand new original arrangements of some of Broadway's latest Musical Theatre offerings paired with time honoured classics from the world of Classical Art Song and Opera - "In Good Company" played to an almost capacity audience in Launceston, Tasmania.
May 23rd, 2014 saw David Butler Studio's inaugural performance production of "In Good Company"come to Melbourne's beautiful Abbotsford Convent for one final encore performance.
